Calvary Baptist Church is a diverse congregation of people who come from many countries and backgrounds to worship God together. The places of origin of the members include: Ghana, Haiti, Honduras, Ivory Coast, Jamaica, Laos, Liberia, Nigeria, Puerto Rico and the United States. To be at Calvary and sit in the pews is evidence of the power of the Gospel to unite people from different nations, cultures and races.
Calvary is growing in size and in ministry. We have been developing our youth ministry, music ministry small group ministry and outreach to the community of South Providence. Special services are held throughout the year including a summer outdoor service, a Christmas Eve Service, Youth-led services and joint worship services with Iglesia Bautista Hispana el Calvary, the Spanish-speaking church that shares the same building.
The worship service combines traditional music with newer songs and hymns. The laity participates in the leadership of the service, reading Scripture, praying, singing and praising God. The congregation is made up of people of all ages and social backgrounds.
The people are warm and welcoming and laugh a lot. If you are looking for a church that loves the Lord and is eager to serve the world, then come to Calvary and be a part of a growing, vibrant group of believers.
