July 18-22, 2016. We thank God for all those who participated in our joint Vacation Bible School in anyway from Calvary, Iglesia Bautista El Calvario (IBHEC), friends of both churches parents, children, youth and families. Because of you this was a tremendous success again. We give special thanks to Pastor Orlando and First Lady Sandra Irizarry of (IBHEC) who pulls this event and both churches together every year to reach souls in the community for Christ! We have been blessed to receive $8,079 so far for the renovations to the kitchen off the dining room downstairs. The majority of donations have come from Calvary Baptist Church members. We have sent out grant requests to foundations and two have declined. We are still hopeful to hear from three more. We pray that the congregation and all the sister-users of the kitchen contribute to this fund as we all use our kitchen. We have started renovations and the floor is complete. We had wanted to have the project completed before the SPNM children’s summer program and vacation Bible school. Please open your hearts to help us fund this very important project. Please make checks payable to Calvary Baptist and write kitchen renovation in the memo section. Thank you so much for your help in ministering to the children of South Providence. —Building Use Committee
Our church kitchen, that serves not only Calvary and Iglesia Bautista Hispana El Calvario but also South Providence Neighborhood Ministries for after school programs and summer camp, and all of our sister churches, is in dire need of repairs/renovations. As you can see from the photo, it has been quite a while so we will be sending out an appeal letter to charitable organizations and the congregation to help with this important project. We plan to bring the kitchen up to code by replacing ceiling tiles and wall board, repairing and painting the cabinets, putting in a new subfloor and flooring and installing new laminate countertops as well as upgrades to electrical and plumbing. We also need to cover the butcher block with stainless steel or remove it because it doesn’t meet safety standards. We would also like to install a used industrial dishwasher and a refrigerator that would better serve SPNM. We have already received a donated industrial stove.
We pray that the congregation and all the sister-users of the kitchen contribute half the cost and look to outside funding for the other half. We want to have the project completed before the SPNM children’s summer program and vacation Bible school. Please open your hearts to help us fund this very important project. Please make checks payable to Calvary Baptist and write kitchen renovation in the memo section. Thank you so much for your help.
Believe it or not, it’s time to start preparing for the Igelisia Bautista Hispana el Calvario/Calvary Baptist Church Vacation Bible School (VBS) again!
Yes, summer is approaching and that means we need to get ready to minister to the children. Please join us for our first VBS training and informational meeting, Wednesday, March 30, 2016 7 p.m, in the Tomlin Room.
El verano se aproxima y eso quiere decir que tenemos que prepararnos para la Escuela Bíblica Vacacional. Esperando que te unas a servir a los niños de la comunidad y los nuestros siendo voluntario este año en la Escuela Bíblica Vacacional.
After another brief transition in the Youth Ministry leader, our very own Sarah Annmarrie Kamara has stepped up to serve as our new Youth Leader beginning, Sunday, November 1, 2015. We are blessed that the Lord has raised up a leader from within our church who was groomed and nurtured to lead for “Such a time as this (Esther 4:14).”
Calvary Baptist Church and Iglesia Bautista Hispana El Calvario are once again working together to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ to children around the world through Operation Christmas Child. We will be having a packing party Saturday, November 7, 2015 to prepare the shoeboxes to ship. Please join us!

Saturday, September 24th God blessed us with another enjoyable Family and Friends Movie Night. Our Calvary family was joined by familiar and new faces. This included brothers and sisters in Christ, visiting members of the local community, and even individuals from out of state.
We thank God for Mr. William Watkins Jr., his testimony on the production of the film Veterans of Color, and his offering of spiritual guidance. One of many encouraging words he shared was to pay attention to the people God sends our way as they are the vehicles to the blessing God is providing us.
Keep checking our the website, FB page, and/or newsletters (The Calvary Call) for our next family and friends event.

The Stewardship Ministry is prayerful and hopeful that God will touch your heart and mind to be “Spirit Led Giving” in your tithing and offering commitment. There are four areas where we want to grow to be Christ faithful stewards, 1) Growing as a Disciple, 2) Christ Centered Community, 3) Christ Like Compassion, and 4) Celebration of Christ.
The first way we are led by the Holy Spirit in our giving is to obey the Word. The Word tells us to give. Therefore, we obey the Word and we give. A thundering voice from Heaven to tell us to give is not necessary, although the way some Christians live it will probably take a thundering voice from Heaven to get them to do something. It is important for us as Christians to understand that the Pastor and our Church cannot do the work of the ministry without finances. When someone says they live by faith believing God to supply their needs, somehow in the minds of Christians they think are exempt from supporting the work of God with their substance. Pastor Jabulani announced this past Sunday, March 1st that we have $3600 toward youth ministry! We only have $1400 more to go to meet the match of a generous donor who has been led by God to match our $5000. We will soon have $15,000 to do youth ministry.
I believe that if our hearts are truly filled with the Love of God, our hearts will compel us to sow financially into the Kingdom of God.
God and His Word are One. The Word tells us that when we obey His Word, we love Him and He calls us His friends. Jesus goes so far as to say that when we obey Him He will manifest Himself to us. This means that by simply obeying Him in our giving, we are His friends and he will manifest Himself to us. This is even true when we yield our finances to Him because the Word tells us in Luke 16:11 that He will entrust us with the true riches of the Kingdom. May our tithes and offerings be pleasing to our Lord and expand His Word to the next generation and the one after that! While the Gospel itself is free, supporting the work of God is not.
Please be in prayer and consider growing as a disciple of Jesus Christ by giving your time, talent and treasure towards the work of God. Being stewards of what God has provided to us is indeed important!!!! God spoke about a willingness and joy to give. Share the joy and God’s love. Please give generously and if you are led to give to the youth ministry just mark your check youth ministry and Calvary will be blessed again.
Stewardship Ministry Chair
In 2015, we will continue our work aggressively towards debt-freedom both individually and as a church. This will not happen overnight so the Finance and Stewardship Ministries will be providing us with tools to get and stay financially free. Therefore, they will be hosting financial seminars throughout the year to help us towards that goal. The first of these workshops will be Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. in the Tomlin Room for Seniors called, “Fraud Alert.” This workshop will teach us how to protect our identity and create wealth for generations to come. Our special guest presenters are The Links, Inc. (http://www.linksinc.org/) and AARP (www.aarp.org). Light refreshments will be served. This event is free and open to the public but please RSVP so they will know how to plan.
